Where NOT to Wax

What You Should NEVER Attempt to Wax and Why.

Now that you have an idea about just what hair waxing is and how to go about having it done, it’s time to move on to those parts of the body that you would NEVER wax, and why.

ALL Parts of the Body - If you are Allergic to the Wax!

Some people have a HORRIBLE reaction to the wax used in hair waxing. Either one or all of the ingredients will be very bad for his or her skin, and it is not unheard of for blisters and peeling to occur, if not worse. You could be so allergic to it that your eyes can become swollen, too. The best thing to do, in order to see whether or not you have an allergy to wax, is to have a test spot done on the area you plan to have the waxing done. Salons will do this for you if you have never been waxed before. You come back for an appointment only if you have not incurred an allergic reaction. At home, you can do a 24 hour allergy test as well, much like what some women and men do with hair coloring products. Allergic reactions can be fatal, so please ensure you are NOT allergic before you attempt any waxing or get it done at a salon.

The Inside of the Ears

While many people, men and women alike, suffer from a lot of hair inside the ear, this is definitely not a place you can wax, since you can go deaf from doing so, damaging the inner ear. There are waxes designed to remove ear wax and other obstructions, but that is totally different from the hot wax used to remove hair. Never wax the insides of your ears! The hair was given to you there for a reason: to help combat wind and protect the inner ear from dirt and debris. Be thankful for your ear hair! Trimming it is okay, and certainly enough to do, without harming yourself.

The Inside of the Nose

With the nose as Grand Central to your sinuses and sense of smell, you certainly don’t want to mess about with it by doing something as foolish as putting hot hair wax up it! For one thing, how are you going to really remove that hair without the strength needed to do so? You cannot apply a strip, anyway, so it doesn’t make sense! Not to mention, you can completely ruin your olfactory sense (sense of smell) with putting something up your nose that doesn’t belong. In addition, you could choke or suffocate from hot wax dripping from your nose to the back of your throat! Yuck, that doesn’t sound like fun now, does it? Besides, there are plenty of wonderful nose hair trimmers available on the market for everyone and they are very inexpensive, too.

Eyelashes

Okay, this is just WRONG on so many levels! Who on Earth would want to wax his or her eyelashes? No one even plucks them, let alone waxes them! Perhaps aliens on other planets do this as a beauty regimen, but don’t take it from us and certainly, don’t do it! You could have severe damage occur to your eyes and surrounding area that is irreparable, too. On a very serious note: do NOT do this!

The Eyelids

Okay, the eyelashes were totally bad to even think about. Eyelids? Are you joking? Who would do it? We know people have sometimes extra hairs on the outside of the eyelashes and surrounding area, but this is another thing that is just too awful to even consider.

The Palms of the Hands

Palm hair is most common in men, though it also occurs with women too; it’s genetic. Yes, it’s a hassle, but you don’t want to wax the palms of your hand. Why? Mostly because they are super-sensitive, and your personal hand and finger prints can be burned beyond recognition, not to mention you’ll incur pain of which you have never been familiar, nor ever want to be.

The Soles of the Feet

Just like the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet need to be left alone. Far too sensitive, you can literally peel your skin off and become a mess, like something out of a Type-B Horror movie.
